Letter to the European Commission

Rethink Rebuild Society contacted the European Commission on the 21st of December 2017 to express our disappointment with Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides's failure to clearly identify and condemn the Syrian regime as the besieger of and main party responsible for the suffering of trapped civilians in Eastern Ghouta. This was in a statement Mr. Stylianides released on the 18th of December 2017 urging for the immediate granting of sustained and unhindered access for aid deliveries and medical evacuations, and calling on all parties to the conflict to make the protection of civilians their utmost priority.

Fortunately, the EU released a declaration the next day after our email that vehemently condemns the Syrian regime's hindrance of humanitarian access, as well as its obstruction to the Geneva talks for a political process.
